ABOUT R.K. ALKER AND HIS AUTHOR VISITS
“I offer inspiring, fun workshops and best-selling storytelling and poetry sessions from separate books for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.”
Hi, I’m RiK. As a father of two primary school children, I love reading, story time and writing best-selling funny kids’ books.
I am passionate about engaging and inspiring children to read and run for their pens, pencils and tablets to get involved in writing and illustration.
My interactive workshops provide insight into how I dream up my books and make them real…and children can too!
“His reading of his favourite chapters captivated the children’s imagination and ensued some raucous laughter. He invited the children to peek behind the pages of his book by informing them of his inspirations and writing processes.”
With over 30 years of writing experience as a public speaker, university lecturer to hundreds, and TV, radio, press and national event performer to thousands, I love having fun with the kids to excite, explode and dive into their imagination.
I have over half a century of unusual life experiences to draw upon for my writing.
When you love it, it shows!…
In a BBC competition, a famous judge once said I had “a smile in my voice!”
My university students often told me I was their “favourite lecturer!”
I even took a crazy ride off-grid as a brightly coloured chilli grower two decades ago. My passion sparked serendipity! I ended up a TV presenter and media celebrity in the local food revolution in the world of food and drink!
Over this period, I performed around 2000 speaking engagements in public, teaching and workshops.
“…Oh, and I also saved 6,000 lives, helped deliver babies and brought dead people back to life!”
It was an honour to serve the country on the UK 999 emergency ambulances for 6 years. Working with children was a privilege and a pleasure, and delivering babies was the zenith.
“R.K. Alker’s passion shone through as he worked with the children, and he thoroughly entertained them with his stories.”
