Kids’ Recipes Made Simple Written in an Easy Cooking Format
Wring kids’ recipes flowed naturally from my experience as the award-winning chili growing and chile cooking Chilliman from Little Green Men Chilli. I was not always a funny children’s author – I used to cook for a living. I was a high profile British Grower, Local Food Evangelist and Champion of Local Food Producers.
Family & Kids
Cooking for and with children is a source of great enjoyment and valuable lesson in self-reliance. It provides children with the skills that will serve and feed them for the rest of their lives.

In this 50 second video I bake croutons and make use of an already hot oven whilst cooking pizza for the kids.
These are lovely! Cut the bread into cubes, place on a baking tray, bake in the 180C oven for twelve minutes or until golden brown, allow to cool, store in a dry airtight container and try not to eat them all whilst they are warm!
COVID-19 Isolation Budget Kids’ Recipe Book Ideas
We were in isolation during COVID-19 or coronavirus. Here in the UK the supermarket shelves were emptying every day. We could not leave the house to shop. We had to use what we had in the refrigerator and cupboards.
Are My Budget Kids’ Recipes & Cookbooks of Interest to Others?
I began to wonder if what we were doing – cooking on a budget and making food stretch further would be helpful to other people. I began to write down the recipes in a kids’ recipe book. We then started filming whilst cooking pizza for our kids. We discovered that the bread was stale and out of date – no problem – I have a recipe for that.
Why Did We Have No Money?
During the height of CXOVID-19 I was terminated as a 999 ambulance person due to a knee injury sustained on a 999 ambulance which affected my ability to perform the physical aspects of 999 response work. That work would involve dealing just about the worst things you can imagine happening to a person, stabilising them, carrying them out and transporting them to a place of safety like a hospital.
Why is a Children’s Author Cooking Recipes for Kids?
OK, quick explanation why a budding children’s author has a recipe book section on his children’s author website.
I (R.K. Alker Kids’ Author) used to cook and demonstrate at food and drink events when I grew chillies for a living. I was fortunate enough to end up all over the press and media.
I was known as The Chilliman, Chilli Rich from Little Green Men, The Little Green Chilli Man and many more names.
Why The Chilliman from Little Green Men, Chorley, Lancashire?
My hobby of growing chillies blossomed out of all proportion. When I started working with local producers to make artisan chilli products, my business went stratospheric! I found myself in the press and media, TV and finalist competitions like UKTV Local Food Heroes with the late great Gary Rhodes.
I Was a BIG Chilli Grower
I ended up as one of England’s largest chilli growers with over a hundred varieties in some very BIG greenhouses.
Am I a Good Cook? – You Decide
I think it’s fair to say I am a budding cook – I dare not call myself a chef because they are really highly skilled, spend years training and also have big knives! I am a natural cook or self-taught chef.
